BTW, I wrote to someone at CSU who I found on their Herbarium website. He has already written back with the address for someone else to contact. How cool is that?
Nope, haven't yet found out about the plant. Do you know it? Since it's blooming, thriving and indeed proliferating in my backyard, it must be a "weed". I prefer to think of it as a wildflower, though. A guy at one of the garden centers told me one day that the best way to get rid of weeds is to learn to love them! ;-)
My b-day is November 8 - I seem to recall that yours is within a day or two of that. I have to add some movies to my list, as well as more music and books. Have you seen Loreena perform, in person? She was in Colorado three times in the last two years; Boulder in the spring of '06, then Denver & Colorado Springs in '07 - I went to all three shows! Since she doesn't tour the States all that often, I figured I should take full advantage. What an incredible performer she is, and also quite personable. She tells the stories of the music, and all in all seems to have as good a time as the audience.
Angh - I don't have current addresses for Maddy or Kay, either. Teresa & I were just talking about Maddy's the other day. She might have Kay's, though...
The woman from CSU responded - the flower is a weed, of course - Hibiscus trionum, aka "Flower of the Hour" since it doesn't stay open for long. It's native to Europe, which is why it didn't turn up in any of my Colorado wildlife sources!

Hi diddley ho neighbour!
I do not know what I'm doing, I do not know how I'm doing what I'm doing and as for the past - not a hope!
Apart from that - How is you all? Grainne, did you find out what the plant is?
Angh, my dear, I want you to know that there are very few people in the world that I would come to a blog for and join up!
Wow Grainne, I had no idea we had so much in common! I like your movies and music, enjoy a few of your pastimes and I am a Scorpio!
Shall we say, that I am a rooster! ;-)

Hi guys,
I'm here too now. A blog is always a nice way to share stuff.
Suddenly I have a dashboard! Interesting...
