Charlie are you still rumbling about? I'm staring out at what is promised to be a foot of new snow, gnashing my teeth that I don't have a carte blanche travel voucher...I believe I'd go to Mexico first...or maybe Australia...someplace with hot desert sand, and some SUN. But somewhere down the line I'd wind up in the UK, for a leisurely ramble around all the Isles.
Wales would be the last stop before I'd jump over to Ireland for a last look round, but I'm damn well take my sweet time.

Hello Angh.. It was St David's Day yesterday, patron saint. The deal is you get to wear a daffodil or a leek on your lapel.. a leek is like an onion, who wants to wear an onion all day?? I expect it has some historical significance. Perhaps it wards off vampires or English men..
I don't think I'm cut out to have much of a web presence. If I blog somewhere I can't help asking myself WHY?? am I doing this. And I don't always have a lot to say, anyway. A lot of it is probably better not shared.
I have a cousin coming over from Australia later this year.. long story, he and his wife came over in the 80's and stayed with my parents so they hoped to stay with dad again.. but since mum popped off you have to give dad about a months notice for anything that might change his set in stone routine. There's no way he could deal with house guests... soooo, my sister had mentioned to my cousin that she had a spare bedroom, he asked me through e-mail to ask her, etc, she was going to let me know but she hasn't and won't say yes or no either way.. and my house is a tip with not enough bedrooms, so that's out... I don't know. My family irritate me. I thought it would be nice to make the Aussie's feel welcome, but dad went into a flat spin about how he would manage in the mornings if he needed an urgent bowel movement and someone was already in there.. and my sister seems like a no-go only she won't say anything either way, and my cousin is waiting for me to write back and tell him what she said...and.. well, that's about it. Stalemate. Not much of a welcome in the hillsides.
Other than that, everything's peachy... The sun is shining here this morning, village like a bloody ghost town, BUT the daffodils are in bloom, snowdrops, some primroses, forsythia taking hesitant yellow steps towards opening... blah, blah, blah..
Hope you're well. :)
Charlie.
In this neighborhood leeks are more expensive than daffodils. One of these days I'll throw caution to the winds and buy some leeks to try. I see recipes all the time on the cookin' shows, but have never been able to justify the price. Daffies in one form or another grow wild here. I can't wait to see them popping up all over the place. Here in this yard there are only a few that ever show up, but it's always a pleasure.
Snowdrops!!! The bulbs can be bought here, but one must be able to afford leeks to plant them.
Snowdrops and Bog Cotton are two of my favorite things to see in Ireland. And the Rhodies of course. I wish I could garden well enough to get those to grow like wild things here...since we've lived here I can't even keep any mint alive.
Very few people, related or not have ever visited my home. It might be because I'm openly territorial about my space. Never been comfortable with people getting close, but to be fair to myself, most of my rellies are dead anyway. I'm a fair guest but a rotten hostess. I show 'em where the bathroom and the fridge are...and they're on their own. Anyway, it's nice that your cousin gave you a head's up at least...hope it works out for them. I've got a bro-in-law who finally learned to call before they invaded, but it took me nearly 20 years to square them away.
Thanks for stopping by here Charlie, regardless...the loo's up the hall and the fridge is full of beer. It's always a pleasure to at least have a chat, and touch base.
